Madu nan elok
Madu yang akan dilahirkannya...
Meski sengatan itu membuat biru kulit yg rapuh...
Takkan berarti untuk sejumput rumput liar nan tegap.
..
Laksana mata yang tak berguna..
Daun telinga yang memang hanya sebatas daun kering..
Hati yang kusut hitam mengeras..
meredam semua yg tergores..
Tidakkah nampak?
Tak ada kabut yang menutupi,
namun hanya seonggok kepura-puraan yang meracuni..
Detik itu akan terbit..
Ibarat lebah lahirkan madu nan elok..
Semu
Merencanakan sebuah perjalanan jauh yg menguras bathin...
Membayangkan sebuah tempat terindah yg akan kutuju...
Hari demi hari ku tempuh,
langkah demi langkah ku telusuri..
Sulit dipercaya, perjuanganku seolah terhempas begitu saja...
Aku masih diam, belum percya yg terjadi...
Tertegun..

- Mary herself repaired the computer.
- Jack himself gave me the book.

Preposition
above, about, across, against, along, among, around, at, before, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, beyond, by, down, during, except, for, from, in, inside, into, like, near, of, off, on, since, to, toward, through, under, until, up, upon, with, within.
Contoh:
- It is a container for butter.
(Preposition "for" menunjukkan hubungan antara "butter" dan "container".) - The eagle soared above the clouds.
BENTUK PREPOSITION
Bentuk-bentuk Kata Depan adalah sebagai berikut:
1. Simple Preposition (Kata Depan Tunggal)
- after, at, by, for, from, of, over, on, in, through, to, off, till, under, up, with, dsb
2. Double Preposition (Kata Depan Ganda)
- into, onto, from under, from among, from off, from within, over against, dsb
3. Compund Preposition (Kata Depan Majemuk)
- across (on cross), along (on long), behind (by hind), about (on by out), above (on by up), before (by fore), beneath (by neath), beside (by side), between (by twain), beyond (by yonder), but (by out except), within (with in), without (with out), dsb
4. Participal Preposition (Kata Depan Partisif)
- pending, during, notwithstanding, past, except, considering, concerning, regarding, dsb
5. Prepositional Phrase (Frase Kata Depan)
- because of, by means of, in behalf of, in front of, in view of, by reason of, with respect to, with regard to, aith relation to, on behalf of, in spite of, dsb.
6. Disguised Preposition (Kata Depan Tersembunyi)
- three o'clock (three of clock)
- Jack o'lantern (Jack of the lantern)
- He has gone a-hunting (on hunting)
Contoh:
- That is a situation I have not thought of. (SALAH)
- She is a person I cannot cope with. (SALAH)
- It is behaviour I will not put up with. (SALAH)
Contoh:
- That is a situation of which I have not thought.
- She is a person with whom I cannot cope.
- It is behaviour up with which I will not put.
Contoh:
- That is a situation I have not considered.
- It is behaviour I will not tolerate.
TIPS
PILIHAN ANDA
- She is a person I cannot cope with.
- She is a person with whom I cannot cope.
Kata setelah kata depan disebut sebagai "Object of the Preposition".
Contoh:
- The cat ran under the car.
(Kata "the car" adalah objek dari "under".) - Can you give this parcel to him tomorrow?
(Kata "him" adalah objek dari "to".)
Contoh:
- Can you give the parcel to him?
- I went to the cinema with them.
Contoh:
- Andy saw the scouts, at least one of whom was armed, through the mist.
- Against whom did you protest if there was nobody present?
TIPS
WHOM SETELAH KATA DEPAN
Gunakan "whom" setelah kata depan
WHETHER SETELAH KATA DEPAN
"whether" dapat diletakkan setelah kata depan:
- A decision about whether the elections were legal is pending.
- Will you raise the question of whether we are investing in the system or withdrawing?

Noun
Contoh:
- soldier - Alan - cousin - Frenchman (Nama Orang)
- rat - zebra - lion - aardvark (Nama Binatang)
- house - London - factory - shelter (Nama Tempat)
- table - frame - printer - chisel (Nama Objek)
- lead - nitrogen - water - ice (Nama untuk Substansi)
- kindness - beauty - bravery - wealth - faith (Nama Kualitas)
- rowing - cooking - barking - reading - listening (Nama Aksi)
- month - inch - day - pound - ounce (Nama Ukuran)
Kata Benda dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, yaitu:
- Concrete Nouns
- Abstract Nouns
Penjelasan
1. Concrete Nouns
contoh:
- car
- house
- chair
- book
2. Abstract Nouns
Contoh:
- happiness
- sadness
- wisdom
- courage
- health
Concrete Nouns terbagi menjadi 5 kelompok, yaitu:
1. Common Nouns
Contoh:
- Car
- Man
- Bridge
- Town
- Water
- Metal
- Ammonia
2. Proper Nouns
Contoh:
- Michael
- Africa
- Peking
- Dayton Peace Accord
- United Nations
- The Tower of London
- Uncle George
- My favourite auntie is Auntie Sally.
- The Red Lion
3. Collective Nouns
Berupa manusia (people), binatang (animals) dan suatu benda (things).
Contoh:
- Choir
- Team
- Jury
- Shoal
- Cabinet (of ministers)
- Regiment
Catatan:
Contoh:
- The committee was formed to carry out the task.
(Panitia telah dibentuk untuk melaksanakan tugas itu).
Bila Collective Nouns dianggap sebagai sekumpulan para anggota, maka diperlakukan sebagai kata benda jamak (plural).
Contoh:
- The jury were enable to agree on a verdict.
Contoh:
- Mother-in-law
- Board of members
- Court-martial
- Manservant
- Paper-clip
PERHATIAN
- The corporal disobeyed a direct Order. (SALAH)
("order" adalah common noun - tidak huruf kapital) - It is the largest Church in Birmingham. (SALAH)
("church"adalah common noun - tidak huruf kapital)
2. Huruf Kapital Hanya Untuk Kata-kata yang Bersifat Dasar
Ketika sebuah nama terdiri dari "the", "of", "an" atau "in", maka ka. ta-kata tersebut tidak huruf kapital
- I must visit the Tower of London. (BENAR)
("of" bukan kata dasar - tidak huruf kapital. BUKAN: Tower Of London) - Have you seen Day of the Jackal? (BENAR)
("of" dan "the" are bukan kata dasar - tidak huruf kapital. BUKAN: Day Of The Jackal)
- That team wins the league. (BENAR)
The team wear new uniform. (BENAR)

- Hey! Get off that floor!
- Oh, that is a surprise.
- Good! Now we can move on.

Kalimat Seru Dalam Surat Resmi
Conjunction
Contoh:
- Jamie, Adam and Lee arranged to meet by The Bull at 7 o'clock.
(Conjunction "and" menghubungkan "Jamie", "Adam" + "Lee") - It is a small but practical kitchen.
(Conjunction "but" menghubungkan "small" + "practical") - The manager or his secretary will notify you when the report is ready.
(Conjunction "or" menghubungkan "manager" + "secretary")
Konjunction terbagi menjadi 2 kelompok utama yaitu:
1. COORDINATING CONJUNCTION
a. Cumulative (Menunjukkan Penambahan)
Conjunction yang sering dipakai pada golongan ini adalah and, both...and, also, as well as, no less than, not only...but also, dsb
Contoh:
- You and I will go to Bali tomorrow
(kalimat aslinya adalah "you will go to Bali tomorrow" dan " I will go to Bali tomorrow". He is both an actor and a director
- He is clever and you are also
- He as well as you is guilty
(be yang dipakai adalah "is" bukan "are". He no less than you will be punished.
- Mr. Anderson is not only accused, but also convicted.
Conjunction yang dipakai pada jenis ini adalah either...or, neither...nor, or, else, otherwise
Contoh:
- You can eat either the red apple or the green one.
You can eat neither the red apple nor the green one.
Kalimat ini sama dengan " You can't eat both the red apple and the green one.") - You or William is right.
Conjunction yang sering dipakai adalah but, still, yet, nevertheless, however, whereas, while
Contoh:
- Mrs. Henry is generous but her husband isn't.
- She is very wealthy still she isn't contented.
- He is very clever, nevertheless he often makes mistakes.
- I'd like to go; however, I haven't got time.
Conjunction yang dipakai adalah therefore, so, so then, then, for
Contoh:
- My sister was ill, therefore, she couldn't go to school yesterday
- It's time to go; so, let's start
- If you make mistake, then you must admit it.
- It is going to rain; for the barometer is falling
a. Apposition (Keterangan Tambahan)
- He said that he could pick me up
- Sean promised that he would tell me the truth
- He could not pass the exam because he was lazy
- I will succeed to pass the exam since I have studied hard
- This coffee is too hot that I cannot drink it
- He ran too fast that he made himself exhausted
- I bought a lot of books that I can prepare myself to pass the exam
- You have to study hard in order that you can pass the exam
- You will pass the exam if you study hard
- I will come to your house provided that I am well enough
- He kept working hard even though he was very tired
- She will probably fail however much she may try
- Mr. William is as tall as Mr. Robert
- You are more beautiful than my girlfriend
- The plane hasn't landed yet as far as I know
- Men will reap as they sow
- You can sit on my seat while I stand
- I will be around you as long as I live
- She went to the shop for eggs, milk and butter. (BENAR)
(tidak perlu ada koma sebelum "and") - It is a large but friendly dog. (BENAR)
- Jamie, Adam and Lee arranged to meet at The Bull. (BENAR)
(Urutan Orang; tidak perlu ada koma sebelum "and") - Carl, David, and Sarah were all witnesses. (SALAH)
- The news will be shown after Dangermouse, and Rug Rats.
- The train will stop at Watford, Harrow, Pinner, Watford, and Bushey.
("Watford and Bushey" bisa saja merupakan 1 tempat, seperti "Bath and Wells".) - The emblem is an amalgamation of the British and Irish flags, the Stars and Stripes, and the Hammer and Sickle.
- I was certain he did it for the money. But, having read his diary, I have a new theory.
Contoh:
- Our team was given 2 minutes' notice, but theirs had been training for weeks. (BENAR)
- I have spoken to Sarah, and she has confirmed the delivery date. (BENAR)
- I have spoken to Sarah, and confirmed the delivery date. (SALAH)
- We eventually found the cave, but Jack was not there. (BENAR)
- We built the hut in an hour and then painted it. (BENAR)
KALIMAT MAJEMUK ?
- I love milk. ( Kalimat Normal)
- I cannot drink it when it is warm.(Kalimat Normal)
- I love milk, but I cannot drink it when it is warm. (Kalimat Majemuk)
Contoh:
- In the '60s, there were dozens of buzzards along the 7-mile trek; but, due to the decline in vermin, only 2 adults live in the area at present.
- Mark, Dawn and Sally adore boiled spare ribs; but Julia, a staunch vegetarian, leaves the room when they are on the menu.
Article
Jenis-jenis Article:
1. INDEFINITE ARTICLE - A - AN (DETERMINER)
"A" dan "AN" termasuk indefinite articles.
- "I saw an elephant this morning."
- "I ate a banana for lunch
- "I am an English teacher."
- "I am a builder."
Maka article yang dipakai adalah, "a university" BUKAN "an university"
- Kemudian pada kata "hour" kita menyebutnya seperti kita mengucapkan "our". Maka, Article yang dipakai adalah "an hour" BUKAN "a hour"
- "The apple you ate was rotten."
- "Did you lock the car?"
- "She's got two children; a girl and a boy. The girl's eight and the boy's fourteen."

- "What are your plans for the future?" / "She has a promising future ahead of her."
- "Harry's Bar is the place to go."
- "You don't mean you met the Tony Blair, do you?"

- People are worried about rising crime. (Semua orang khawatir akan tingginya kriminalitas)
- My son plays football.

Ada 2 cara pemakaian Adverbs, yaitu:
1. Attributive
